Distinguished Professor, and leader, Biorefinery Process and Systems (BPS) Group, Institute of Microbiology, and Professor, Department of Biological Systems Engineering, Washington State University. Professor Chen’s research area is biorefinery processes and systems with specific research interests in novel enzyme systems for pretreatment and hydrolysis of lignocellulosics, enzyme-substrate interactions, development of biocatalyst and bioconversion processes, and system modeling and integration for applications in biofuel, biochemical and nutraceutical productions.
